Biography

Jeremy Ulm is a performer and educator based in Charlottesville, VA. He is Lecturer of Horn at the University of Virginia, Principal Horn of the Charlottesville Symphony, and 3rd Horn in Symphony of Northwest Arkansas.

Jeremy was previously Principal Horn of the Topeka Symphony from 2024-26. He has performed with orchestras such as the Kansas City, Phoenix, Omaha, South Dakota and Sioux City Symphonies, Sunflower and Ad Astra Music Festivals, and the National Repertory Orchestra. 2026 engagements include the Williamsburg and Lynchburg Symphonies, Charlottesville Opera and New Mexico Philharmonic.

As a chamber musician, Jeremy is a founding member of the State Line Horn Duo with Brianna Volkmann. He was previously the horn fellow of the Plaza Wind Quintet at UMKC from 2024-25, which included an appearance on Kansas Public Radio, recitals and concerts around Kansas City. Jeremy has performed with Midwest Chamber Ensemble, and as a substitute with the Kansas Brass Quintet and Arizona State University Faculty Wind Quintet. Jeremy was a student artist with the Cactus Chamber Musicians in Phoenix, AZ, where he performed repertoire such as Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 and Till Eulenspiegel einmal anders, among others.

As an educator, Jeremy has worked with students of all ages and in a variety of settings. As a guest clinician, Jeremy has given classes at institutions such as University of North Carolina Greensboro, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, James Madison University, University of Arizona, University of Arkansas, Wichita State University and Kansas State University, among others. He is an active teacher in public schools, and has worked with preschoolers through high schoolers. Jeremy maintains a private studio in addition to his role as Lecturer of Horn at University of Virginia.

Jeremy is currently on leave from his doctoral studies at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He obtained his Master of Music from the University of Kansas and his Bachelor of Music from Arizona State University. His primary teachers are Alberto Suarez, Dr. Kelly Misko, Dr. Paul Stevens, Gabriel Kovach and Dr. John Ericson.
